Get to know MontiGroup Surface Preparation Technologies

The MONTI-Group consisting of M.Test located in Houston / US, MontiPower Americas Inc. in Manassas / VA and MONTI-Werkzeuge GmbH from Hennef near Bonn / Germany is an innovative company specialising in developing and manufacturing unique surface preparation solutions for manual, semi-automatic or robotic steel cleaning and roughening to ensure the best possible bond for anti-corrosion materials such as TSA, Elastomers, Liquid-curing coatings and Adhesive-based coating solutions such as tapes and heat shrinkable sleeves. We believe and prove every day the relation between prepared surface quality and the applied protective coating and sealant quality. “Preparation from scratch” is our motto.

MONTIPOWER is known as the manufacturer of the manual device Bristle Blaster® – an innovative solution for surface preparation comes in Single, Double, Four and Ten Bristle Blasting belt versions. This is the world’s only hand-held power tool that can achieve sandblasting results. The Bristle Blasting method creates a surface cleanliness comparable to Sa 2 ½ (or SSPC-SP 10, Near White Metal) and a roughness as anchor profile of approx. 65-85 μm Rz (e.g. on pipeline steel API 5L X42).

Bristle tips are designed to strike the corroded surface with kinetic energy that is equivalent to conventional blasting processes that use grit blast media. Immediately after the bristle tips strike the corroded steel surface, they retract (i.e., “rebound”) from the surface, which results in both corrosion removal and a micro-indentation that exposes fresh surface. Consequently, surfaces that have been treated by Bristle Blasting have a texture and visual cleanliness that mimics those obtained by conventional grit blasting processes.

Our patented technology is heavily used in various industries ranging from Marine, Wind, Automotive, Mining, but also at home to prepare wood or concrete. E.g. in the pipeline industry, Bristle Blasting is widely used for weld seam preparation during construction, fieldjoints, bevelling polyethylene and for spot repair in maintenance projects. The Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic is ATEX- approved for Zone 1 (Ex II 2G c IIAT4 X).

We care a lot about user friendliness and ergonomics so that we take the hassle out of any surface preparation job, in a safe and healthy way. Our products are designed to be non-harmful to nature and our surroundings, without hazardous materials, burdensome equipment or waste requiring disposal.

With a worldwide network of affiliated partners and distributors, MONTIPOWER offers its customers an excellent after-sales service including product training: In case of advice on product selection, availability, or repairs to get the maximum out of every purchase. Our goal is not just to be faster, but also to be more connected. This way your surface can be monitored during application and our rotary surface preparation devices automatically adjust to changes to ensure optimal quality. We offer an extensive network of dedicated, skilled, trained and competent surface engineers ready to assist anytime, anywhere.
